matagal narin....It's been a while...hello to 2010 soon..

Shanghai Solar Eclipse

hu hu hu.......

It's was just total darkness and its still raining today here in Shanghai....

As a compliment, its not hot, unlike yesterday where it was 40.20 degrees celcius.

Total darkness on the side of Shanghai......It reminds me of the song where some people are awake/sleeping on the other side of the world. It reminds me of my overtime works where I see the streetlights beside my office window. Just last monday we celebrate how one small step left a mark on the moon...it was 40 years ago.

Summer has come.........

It is definitely hot season now. The outside temperature is like 30degrees and getting hotter even more every day. Shanghai summer came late this year. H1N1 Flu also became known just two weeks from today. I am missing buko(fresh coconut) juice and halo-halo(iced-sweet-fruits).

I miss swimming back home. I hope I can do it with the family this coming July......

Chain Reactions at sea

I have met several seamen back home three years ago. I hope, if they are still seamen, they are not those who have been kidnapped by the pirates. Even after naval forces try to help securing the vast Gulf of Aden, often they still manage to hi-jack ships. The situation sparks cordon of navy vessels, maybe several different country navy vessels. It allowed now the presence of foreign military ships because of the situation. In a way it strengthens security in the Gulf of Aden. In a way also, it shows that there is no solution yet to avoid being hijacked. For those who are hi-jacking, like the Teen Somali pirate who is now being tried in the US, he will be put to jail. He will be punished. But the roots of that crime is not resolved yet. We'll just have to see what’s next to being done to help Somali’s......

Anything

The temperature in Shanghai is now warmer in the day time. during the night it's still a little bit cold but manageable with 2 combination of regular clothes.

Children's school year is about to take a rest. For some parents, that may be the opposite......

AIG executives did something really stupid....Is it not corruption to use Tax payer's money for personal advantage?

A lot of people are still losing jobs back in the Philippines and every where else.
What jobs would be most popular in this trying time?

Philippine presidential election is coming next year. Imagine the damage publicity happening now for the candidates. Watch out for bank robbers and other thieves....The country's national election is not only expensive, the last two results of the elections is also disappointing.

The US : Restructuring to a New Society

As the Obama economic group gear on a 787Billion dollars stimulus bill this week, it is said that there are more to come. Among the issues the administration wants to focus is the automobile industry and the private banking sector. It seems that the government will step in soon if the current economic conditions do not present better results. The main goal is to help the people and the people should be the priority. The concept of bailing out industries and or a company is to help a lot of the working class. These people includes those who have already lost jobs, in mortgage troubles and those dependent in the consumer-material cycle business. Hopefully, the stimulus packages and looking closely into the financial sector, will make the government adhere to the current pains of their society.

Wildfire Australia

I have seen some of the wildfire photos that devastated the southeastern Australia. I have several friends from Australia but all of them are not from the affected region. When I learned of the news I thought it was just the ordinary forest fire. As I looked in to the news for the last week I realized the magnitude of the fire and the lives lost. The damage to properties during this economic crisis must be very hard for the affected people. Somehow, Australians are resilient and happy people. I am sure, like my Mates in Shanghai, they will pass through the hard times.

Downsize 2009

And here it is, downsizing employees back in the Philippines and even in shanghai.
The echo of such move is also felt into the offices affiliated and scattered around the world. It is likely that it will continue if the situation get worst into the second quarter of this year.

I see young people hugging and talking along the street side waiting for their bus ride(maybe because winter cold here is sometimes 5 below zero). It seems that they don't know whats really happening around in the city and the country. Nevertheless, it could be that Chinese family need to support one child only. Perhaps, the savings they have are far reaching than the families of neighboring Asian Families.

I remember my self back (Philippines) in the 1998-1999 just after the first year of the Asian financial crisis, I never knew what it was and why work was scarce at the time when I graduated. That time also, the Chinese government help in the Asian crisis by holding steady their economy so that other nations in Asia will not be fully devastated by the crisis. That year was memorable also, it is the first time I experienced the so called "skeletal force". The word skeletal pertains to important structures that moved the body of the company in a time of downsizing. I remember clearly the faces of my two boss who operates outside the office while I run the office from the inside. It took me 3 months more during that time before I left that company.

Its true that we need to help each other in a time of financial crisis. It is also true and important that the US government help since the crisis originated from their place. For all other nations, I hope their governments will be creative enough in extending help to returning immigrant workers who just lost jobs. For us who work in Shanghai, I hope the economic stimulus packages will take effect soon. I want to be optimistic and that the expo2010 would turn something good for the stirring wheel of life.

Less Pedestrians

There are now less pedestrians roaming around the office-corridors in huaihai road. It must be the season where we have zero to minus 2 degrees Celsius temperature. However, there is this thought that people may have started going home for the New Year’s celebration. Also, maybe, there is that atmosphere of people who have gone vacation because they lost their jobs. I hope that it will not further continue but the current situation does not guarantee it in the near future. I still hope that through people's cooperation through work and good services to clients may surpass these tough times.
